Reforestation is a practical and cost effective way to combat climate change. Watch this short video to learn the drone mapping process Village Earth developed and implemented for PrintReleaf to verify its reforestation efforts in their planting sites around the globe. According to the United Nations “forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing roughly 2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.” However, as reforestation efforts increase in numbers and scope around the globe, there is also an increased need for rapid and cost effective methods to quantify the impact of these efforts. With this in mind, Village Earth has developed a cost effective procedure for assessing reforestation efforts using low-cost consumer grade UAV’s that it can deploy anywhere around the globe. Watch this brief video to see how we’re using this approach to assess reforestation efforts in Madagascar for PrintReleaf.
